The Sahara Discipleship Training School

What Will I be learning in my DTS?

TO KNOW GOD AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN

Week by week we tackle a different discipleship issue, as well as focus on the world. We invite a new speaker each week to impart to us what they have learned and lived. No two DTS’s are exactly the same, but they share a foundational curriculum.

Learning about the Nature and Character of God
Who is God really? What is He really like? If we knew God for who He really is, in His majesty and glory, love and justice, our lives would be significantly different. Many struggles we have are rooted in a misconception of who God is. It will take a lifetime to learn about Him – but we want to make a start by getting to know God's nature and character as He has revealed himself to us in His Word.

Learning to Hear the Voice of God
Yes, God still speaks! We desire for you to hear from God and to follow His voice wherever He leads you – it is so exciting to journey with Him!

Understanding the Purpose of God’s Redemption through the Cross
God has a powerful plan for your life and it has already been set into motion through His sacrifice on the Cross. We want you to understand the full meaning of the Cross and redemption through His sacrifice so you can be free from the burdens of the past to walk into the calling and future He has for you!

Unleashing the Power of the Word
Learn how to read the Scriptures in a way that not only challenges but also refreshes and changes you – and trains you to be a world-changer!  The principles of God's Word are not only applicable to your own life, but are a means to bring transformation to the nations.

Intimacy & Identity
There is nothing more powerful than living a life that reflects Christ. A high priority of the school is for you to build an intimate relationship with your Creator, Lover & Savior, so that not only who you are but also what you do will reflect Christ's love and care for this world that He loved so much He gave His life for it. Discover more of the plans and purposes God has for your life.

Learning how to Make and Keep Healthy Relationships
Being Christ- and other-centred is the key for healthy and strong relationships. Learn more about how to build your life on a healthy foundation by having healthy, fulfilling relationships – to God, yourself, your spouse, your parents, your fiancée, your friends...

Evangelism and Missions
A primary goal at YWAM is to co-work with God to preach the Good News in all the world – to the ends of the earth! Learn more about how God has been and is working through His people worldwide. Learn more about how to be an ambassador of Christ in one of the last frontiers: the Muslim world.

Biblical Worldview and Cross-Cultural Ministry
We want to understand the times and seasons we're living in and know how we can make a lasting difference in this world – we want to train you to be an agent of transformation in the sphere of society God is calling you to. You need to know „what you believe and why, and what you don't believe and why not“ (Francis Schaeffer) – Ready for the challenge?  Also, you will learn about how to serve in a cross-cultural context, with a special focus on the Muslim world.

Intercession & Spiritual Warfare
It is exciting to realize that God calls us to co-work with Him through prayer! We desire for prayer & intercession to become a lifestyle for you and for us.

What will I be doing and learning while on outreach?

dts-ss-2

...BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING

The outreach will be a time that will expand your horizon – and your comfort zone!! It is our passion to share God's love with the people of North Africa, and you will be part of it! We want to serve the people of North Africa in any way we can. Every outreach will look very different depending on the location, as every place will have different needs and opportunities for serving. Past outreaches have brought us from the sands of the Sahara to high mountain villages. We have shared bowls of camel milk with people in nomad tents and have designed preschool lessons. We have played football with boys at the beach and painted walls in an orphanage. We have prayed for sick people and told stories to women at the well.

You will eat food you have never tasted before and get aquainted with very basic accomodation and living conditions. You will learn to work in a team – an excellent means to work on your character and grow in being a disciple! You will grow in using your giftings and step out in doing things you never thought you would be able to do.

You never know what God has in store – but one thing is for sure: After this experience you will for ever be ruined for the ordinary!
