The School of Frontier Missions (SoFM), prepares workers for pioneering efforts among the unreached people groups of the North African region and the immigrant Muslim communities living in the European cities - where there is still no significant and/or culturally relevant church presence. The SoFM is a secondary school in YWAM's missionary training system. Applicants must first successfully complete a Discipleship Training School (DTS) or similar preparation through a partner mission agency.
Content
The three month lecture phase will equip you with good working knowledge of Islam and some of the most up to date tools for connecting and working with Muslims. Other topics include teaching on business in missions and community development, language learning skills, story telling in oral cultures, cultural adaptation and team dynamics and a short cross cultural observation trip.
Forming team
In order to send out workers with maximum support, we encourage students to team up during the lecture phase for their first field assignment.
Ongoing coaching
We provide ongoing coaching throughout students’ first field assignment as they learn the basics of language learning, and cultural adaptation. Upon completion of the SoFM, candidates can receive credits from YWAM's University of The Nations towards a possible degree.
Our next school will run from September 12th - December 8th, 2012.
